SCIT Olympics 2007 > Game Development
 

Rules

1. All entries must be made using C++, Macromedia Flash or Visual Basic
2. The game must be developed around the stated theme
3. The theme for this section of the competition shall be "Jamaica's Pastime
4. The game should fall into one or a mix of any two of the following genre:

  1. Role Playing Game
  2. Platform
  3. Shooter
  4. Puzzle
  5. Adventure
  6. Action-Adventure
  7. Fighting
  8. Racing
  9. Arena Sports
  10. Flight Simulation
  11. Military Simulation
  12. Economic Simulation
  13. City/Building Simulation
  14. Sports
  15. Real-Time Strategy
  16. Turn-Based Strategy
  17. Party
  18. Educational
  19. Music
5. Games may be developed for the Win32 or .NET platforms
6. The competition will have 3 stages: Design, Coding and Testing
7. Design tasks must be submitted be the deadline for the project to accepted
8. Teams will be given approximately 8-10 hours to develop the game in a contest area prior to the date of the Olympics. Code must be sufficiently commented
9. Research and resource materials such as notes and the internet may be used during coding
10. Specified goals must completed in each stage of the development for points to be awarded
11. The final product will be judged according to the following:
  1. Graphics
  2. Sound and Music
  3. Stability
  4. Lack of Bugs
  5. Fun Factor
  6. Relevance
12. The team that accumulates the most points from completing goals and the final judging will be declared the winner
13. Judges' decisions are final
