Rules

Important: Finalized rules will posted at a later date prior to the registration deadline.

1. Teams will be given 1 hour to complete 2 activities. The team ending with the most point shall be declared the winner.
2. Activity 1 [Decryption Game]:

  1. Preloaded images are encrypted and stored on a central server machine
  2. Login to a dedicated server on assigned port , and decrypt the encrypted image(s)
  3. Retrieve and present the decrypted image(s) on your local machine.
  4. The machine with the fastest decryption and hence retrieval time wins.
  5. Time retrieval program manages the game
3. Activity 2 will be announces at the contest
4. It is forbidden to launch denial-of-service (DOS) attacks. Teams should ensure there are no floods, no DNS poisoning and no obviously destructive behavior.
5. Traffic generation will be penalized, regardless of the fact that the traffic is part of a DOS attack or not.
6. It is possible to patch the services, provided that the patch does not break the scoring system. If the modification to the service makes the service not accessible, points will be lost.
7. Blocking access to the service functionality that is not associated with flag verification is equivalent to make the service not available.
8. It is not allowed to perform attacks outside the targeted network. For example, attacking a site box using its routable address is not allowed. All the traffic for the competition must be contained within the provided network.
9. It is permissible to attack any host of a team's sub-network
10. Books are allowed during the competition subject to approval.
11. The participants are allowed to bring with them any kind of software on a CD or a USB drive.
12. Each student must bring along a College/University ID Card.
13. PC's will be provided to the participating teams, strict action will be taken towards teams that try to damage the computers in anyway.
14. Instant disqualification will be awarded to the team, if any participant's behavior is found to be unruly.
15. The judges reserve the right to disqualify any team from the competition with or without notice.
